Benefits of Tomato Sauce
Anti-Age Food
Studies say that lycopene is better absorbed by the body when cooked and a little fat. Therefore, the tomato sauce prepared with olive oil and ketchup are the best sources. Remember this when you prepare the pasta on Sunday!
Researchers at the British Society for Investigative Dermatology found that a daily serving of tomato sauce improves the skin’s ability to protect themselves from ultraviolet rays and hence, premature aging they produce on the skin tissue. To reach these conclusions, the researchers gave volunteers a group of about 55 g of tomato sauce and 10 g of olive oil daily, while another group were given only olive oil.
After three months, the skin samples of tomato sauce that incorporated showed a 33% more protection against sunburn (the equivalent of a protective factor only areas of low) and higher levels of procollagen, a molecule keeps skin firm.
Other benefits of lycopene, has antioxidant properties and acts by protecting cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. It also prevents cardiovascular disease. Similarly, several scientific studies have shown that this plant pigment can significantly reduce the risk of prostate cancer, breast and ovary.
